Ladies and gentleman, we have a Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) “Summer Series” schedule! Your Edmonton Stingers schedule is the cover photo.
The concept of a “summer series” is not foreign to basketball fans as the “Las Vegas Summer League“, under normal circumstances, gives NBA fans a small respite from their long off-season. For the CEBL, the “summer series” is the best example of logic during these pandemic times reducing their schedule from 20 games per team to just 26 games total.
The tournament will be held in St. Catharines, Ontario at the Meridian Centre. CBC Sports will live stream each game on their free CBC Gem streaming service. The CBC will nationally broadcast seven games.
Our Edmonton Stingers get the national spotlight shone on them on Saturday August 1st as they take on the defending champs the Saskatchewan Rattlers. The road to that Championship last season for the Rattlers included breaking the hearts of Stingers fans. I’m not sure if under such unique circumstances the rivalry aspect of this game will rise to the top but the Rattlers hold the distinction of being the team I want to see beaten the most.

The Stingers Summer Series opens on Sunday July 26th against the Fraser Valley Bandits.

On Monday July 27th, the Stingers face the expansion Ottawa BlackJacks. Obviously there is no history between the two teams so will move to Wednesday July 29th when the competition is the Hamilton Honey Badgers.
